What is a signature bond?

A signature bond, also known as a personal recognizance bond or PR bond, is a type of bail bond that allows an individual to be released from custody based on their promise to appear in court on their scheduled court date.

To qualify for a signature bond, the individual must demonstrate that they are not a flight risk and do not pose a danger to the community. They may be required to provide personal information, such as their address and contact information, as well as agree to comply with certain conditions set by the court, such as attending all court hearings and refraining from any criminal activity.

If the individual fails to appear in court or violates any of the conditions of the signature bond, they may be subject to arrest and additional criminal charges. Signature bonds are typically granted for non-violent offenses and for individuals with minimal criminal histories.
